Matthew Growney - Founder and Managing Partner

Matthew has been involved in private equity investing since 1997. He first became extremely knowledgeable in the communications, internet, and media industries, where he pioneered the recent growth of the M2M industry. In 2008, he launched Rudyard Partners, an early stage venture fund focused on consumer technologies and product design.

Matthew was Co-Founder & Managing Director of Motorola Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of Motorola, opening global investment offices in Boston, Silicon Valley, Tel Aviv, and Beijing. He co-managed the $350M portfolio of 70+ companies and established it as one of the premier corporate venture practices in the world.

Today, Matthew manages a collection of consumer investments through his family office, Rudyard Partners, that includes luxury jewelry, music, hospitality, interior design, and digital eCommerce companies. Matthew is also a Senior Advisor to PUMA USA on Technology & Running/Training.

In November 2005, Matthew was named one of Boston’s “40 under 40ʺ by the Boston Business Journal for his professional achievement and community contributions in New England. Matthew graduated from Michigan State University (BA), where he serves on the Board of the Center for Venture Capital, Private Equity, & Entrepreneurial Finance at the Broad School of Business, and from New England Law|Boston (JD). Matthew is also on the board of directors for the Concord Education Fund, the Umbrella Center for the Arts, and previously served as chairman of the advisory board for the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship in New England.
